Six to Sixty

When I was little, 60 seemed near to dead!

The Shirt

The Shirt Banner

In the heyday of my LPGA golf career I had a favorite shirt.  I wore it every tournament Sunday and won in it twice!  Tho it is long gone , I’ve discovered a way to memorialize it…I feel “My Shirt” is the coolest glass I’ve ever designed!

2013 Kia Classic LPGA Tournament Trophy – March 2013

For the last few years on a Sunday in March I’ve gotten a slew of texts & emails about the Trophy I made for the KIA Classic. This year Beatriz Recari from Spain, outlasted I.K. Kim to take home the trophy – Congrats Beatriz!

2013 Fundraiser: Sustain Local Art & Cuisine – February 2013

You’ll hear me talk a lot about Sawdust. It is certainly my extended family,
now that my Mom is gone. We’re having a fundraiser in March to raise cash to
make a movie about us, the Sawdust… Definitely watch out for that one!!
In February I made/donated 60 cups for the dinner, 10 different color patterns, using a
post-dip process that I learned with my first Master, John Barber.tumbler bluegreentumbler

Trophy She Shells – January 2013

Glass detailsGlass details

I am blessed with a network of friends all over the country who have been instrumental in helping me grow my business.  This particular friend happens to be the Chairwoman of the Ladies Member Guest Committee at both Hidden Creek, near Atlantic City, NJ and Jupiter Hills in Jupiter, FL.

Between us we cooked up a plan for me to provide Trophies for three of her events. And I got to feature my favorite thing to make, a She Shell, which became the prize for the overall winners!  I also made fluties, which are named “The Edwina” in her honor and small wave bowls.

Pinch Me – December 2012

pinch me!My friend conceived an idea to gift her entire family with a set of Pinch Me’s. What is a Pinch Me you ask? It is my version of a vintage cup first made by Blenko Glass out of West Virginia.   pinch1 I was kind of clueless to start but it turned into a wonderful challenge, all 80 of them! They ended up on the Christmas Dinner Table as place cards and then everyone took them home. As always, high praise to my teacher and assistant, Gara!muffinblenko

Sawdust Art Festival Winter Fantasy – November 2012

 photo-14 photo-13

The Sawdust Art Festival is open for the months of July and August. In November and December we have what is called Winter Fantasy for the five weekends leading up to Christmas.  My booth became “Angel Headquarters.”  This year I built my booth without walls so that I could ask the kids to fill the open spaces with their Christmas wishes. Some of them were priceless!
